Are Your Buildings Ready for a Safe Evacuation?

Emergency Lightings .
Emergency lighting systems, which allow people to safely evacuate buildings when normal lighting is interrupted, are still implemented outside of standards despite their vital importance. Before addressing the issue of emergency lighting systems, stop and think for a moment; how much time do we spend in common living spaces (such as hospitals, shopping malls, banks, etc.) while daily life goes by? The time we spend in places other than the ones we control is considerable. Moreover, we do not have enough information about the threats we may face in such common areas. The fact that our country is located in an earthquake zone is itself a threat. How prepared and secure we are against these and similar threats has been a topic of discussion for years.

On the other hand, there are also encouraging developments, both due to the obligations arising from legal regulations and the adoption of more human-oriented approaches by institutions. The progress made in emergency lighting systems is among these developments. However, the answer to the question “Is this progress sufficient?” is still “no”.

Emergency lighting systems, which allow people to safely evacuate buildings when normal lighting is interrupted, are still implemented outside of standards despite their vital importance. Products and applications that are against legal regulations do not work as intended in times of danger and put human life at risk.

While every minute is important for a safe evacuation, these wrong products and applications do not provide the necessary conditions for people to leave the building. As a result, injuries and even loss of life can occur due to tripping over obstacles, stumbling and falling. On the other hand, failure to provide sufficient lighting in emergency situations can further increase the panic experienced by people and make a safe evacuation difficult.

Many organizations are aware of these risks and switch to correct, effective and reliable emergency lighting systems, but the scenarios presented may not fully respond to how much the need will be met in an emergency. At this point, product and service quality comes to the fore.

Products that meet the standards and meet the features defined in the specifications, and the service provided by an expert team in the field, as well as these products, can provide the highest level of efficiency expected from emergency lighting systems.
